This new solution was developed by a team from the Bodywork Seals Business Unit and the Research and Innovation Center.
The BSS (Body Sealing Systems) business unit has perfected a 100% thermoplastic door seal. This new product improves:
- weight (30 to 50% compared to the generic EPDM solution),
- recyclability,
- aesthetics.
An initial production order has been placed for a range of premium vehicles (Jaguar- Land Rover). This development is the fruit of a collaboration across business units that resulted in patented product/process innovations.
This allows Hutchinson to make a significant contribution towards reducing CO2, as sought by automotive manufacturers.
